The Spot is a unique place. Unique because it’s a DIY spot, built gradually over 16 years by a dedicated group of grafters. Unique because it’s recognised by the council and is classified as an official skatepark. And… Unique because it’s got Steve Barrow at the helm.
Steve (aka Cronos) has put a truly epic amount of blood, sweat, tears and money into the place since the very beginning. It’s his vision that’s produced some pretty interesting transitions at The Spot, which take more than a few sessions to get used to.
Steve celebrated his 50th birthday on 29th June 2019. 50! Seriously. Is he slowing down? F–k no. He’s got more energy and drive and passion than anyone else I know. I’d love to know his secret.
The Spot celebrated Steve’s five decades of chaos with an absolutely massive party. It was a BMX jam above all, but really it was all about drinking beers, live music, getting sunburnt, the BBQ, the bonfire, the good times, the carnage, shouting, screaming, fireworks. I filmed just some of the madness on the day – check the video above.
Happy Birthday Steve!
