NIK FORD: Time Bomb

It must be so tough trying to get back into the swing of normal everyday life, nevermind re-learning how to ride your bike! Nik Ford had a serious accident on his bike 13 years ago and has worked incredibly hard to get where he is today and it’s evident. Here’s the edit he made from a bunch of clips he filmed during the time he stepped back on those pedals. Some quality midschool tech trickery, probably not tech as you may know it but it’s how I remember people riding back in the late 90’s early 00’s. Props to Nik though man, takes a huge heart and so much effort to get back to doing what he loves!

“2016 was my 13th year back riding after suffering a brain injury from a serious bike crash, It was also 20 years from when I began riding BMX. I was keen to film what I hoped would be one of best video projects, at 33 years young!

However in the all too familiar Nik Ford time bomb scenario, I had another nasty crash on my bike and needed to have surgery to reconstruct my shoulder. This delayed the start of filming and meant I had a lot to fit in to the later half of the year.

Now the edit is complete I am stoked with all the clips, my favourites include the no handed xup grind, suicide double barspin rocket icepick, feeble grind to xup pegs to barspin out and the rodeo grind.”
