Dirt Factory Launches Crowd-Funding Campaign!

Sick news! Dirt Factory are set to launch a crowd fund campaign to build the “UK’s First Indoor Bike Park” – What this means is, basically a HUGE bike orientated skatepark built in Manchester housing all kinds of different tracks, trails, ramps and pretty much everything in between. If they can reach target this would be the largest of it’s kind in the UK and definitely a bunch of fun to ride. Check out some of the plans below…

Here is a little more info explaining how crowd funding works:

  • Crowdcube is the name of the platform we will be using
  • Crowdcube is the world’s leading investment crowd funding platform
  • The campaign is put online, the more people that see it and invest the better
  • Our target is £300k, so all we need is 3,000 people to put £100 in, easy eh?
  • You can invest anything from £10 or higher
  • If you invest you become a Dirt Factory shareholder
  • In addition to shares we will also offer rewards to our investors.

Main features:

  • Pump tracks – improve your physical fitness whilst having fun on your bike
  • XC loops – practice technical trail features in a safe environment
  • North shore – test your balance skills on wooden tracks and skinny’s
  • Jump lines – have fun and progress your skills in the air
  • Skills zone – improve key bike skills over a range of obstacles
  • Foam pit – practice your jumping technique and style with the comfort of a soft landing
  • Additional features will include big berms, wall rides, drop offs, rock garden and a colour coordinated progressive layout.

Café and Chill Out Zone:

  • Hot and cold quality cafe food and drink
  • Alpine theme decor – a warm and cosy vibe
  • Track viewing point
  • Bike racks
  • TV, biking films and game consoles

Dirt Factory will be the UK’s first indoor bike park designed specifically for BMXs and mountain bikes. An existing warehouse or distribution centre will be filled with mountain-bike trails, jumps and pump tracks made out of recycled dirt and shipping containers.

Dan Makin, is one of the founders and Directors of Dirt Factory. Dan said: “We have a truly unique offer and one that will hopefully get more people enjoying cycling, more often. Getting kids off their phones and computers, having fun together on bikes is something we see a big priority.”

“We are very excited to be launching the Dirt Factory crowd fund campaign. Our team has carried out extensive planning and research to develop the Dirt Factory business and get the venture to this stage. Now is the time for people to get behind the project and help get the Dirt Factory wheels in motion.”

Dan and his fellow Dirt Factory team have already secured over £200k of start-up capital from private investors, industry supporters and their own savings. The team behind the project include a construction project manager, mountain-bike trail builders, marketing professionals and cycle coaches. They have spent the last three years researching, developing their business plan and growing a supporter network.

Mark McClure is a fellow Dirt Factory director and an International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) Trail Specialist. Mark has recently worked on bike park projects in China, Israel, Mexico, Norway, Switzerland and USA.

Mark commented: “We’ve had great support from local riders, the wider cycle community and some big international bike brands. A facility that is dry, convenient and with high quality trails to practice your bike skills and have fun is something a lot of UK riders are crying out for. We are also confident that it will attract those who are new to cycling or have ridden bicycles but want to develop their off-road cycle skills.”

“Indoor bike parks have proved successful in the USA and we’re starting to see more emerge in Europe. Manchester is the perfect base for Dirt Factory in the UK and it will further enhance the cycle credentials of the city.

Looks pretty sweet eh? Well if you’d like to GET INVOLVED then just hit the link, you can donate, become a shareholder and help build something incredible for people of all ages to enjoy! I’ve seen these places over in the U.S and they are dope.

I’ll know I’ll be whacking a cheeky donation in myself, even though it’ll be in Manchester I think it would be a good road trip out for the lads some time, riding this place would be insane. Hope it all goes through, good luck guys!
