One of England’s more iconic parks is The Boyley Skatepark in Hastings. Named after Hastings legend Richard ‘Boyley’ Ball, who sadly passed away in 2002, the skatepark on this site has been proud host of the annual Boyley Jam since.
After the old wooden design had run its course, the concrete park was delivered in two phases. Phase one (2010) saw the gnarly bowl, with its cradle (the first in the UK) and full pool section, and a little token street course, then phase two (2013) added a proper street section.
The location is quite striking. Exposed above the coast, on a good day, you get amazing views… On a bad day, not so much.
The bowl is a cracker, it’s got a lot of different transitions and a few transfers to be had. Pretty full on gnarly – in the right hands it produces some world class roasting. (see above)
The street section is fairly basic but has a few interesting features, plus a jump box and a couple of nice hip lines if you pick up the speed a bit.
