It sure is a trek from the midlands to Cornwall, but the Mount Hawke Easter Jam is always one you don’t want to miss out on! The atmosphere is amazing and friendly with all disciplines appreciated by everyone equally.

This year the jam was well stocked up on prizes provided by the local BMX shop Dead Sailor, plus the likes of Seventies, Etnies and even local brewery Skinners providing the goods. The day was kicked off with an amateur bowl contest. There were some little shredders sending some big tricks but most importantly having fun.

Pro bowl was next, which was incredible… With the likes of James Jones, Issac Lesser, Tom Isted, Jay Cowley and Ollie Palmer you know it was a decent spectacle.

“He ditched the bike and fell and broke his spine in 3 places…”

Unfortunately James Jones took one of the worst crashes I have ever seen. He was attempting a barspin to foot jam on a backrail, but ditched the bike and fell and broke his spine in 3 places… Check his instagram for updates. Massive shout out to the paramedics and all of those riders who helped him out. We hope to see him back shredding again really soon.

James Jones on the way to hospital… A sub rail barspin to footjam attempt gone wrong left James with a fracture in his neck and two broken vertebrae in his lower back. Get well soon bro.

The final part of the day was genius – a big air piñata contest! This got spirits back up with each rider trying various different, often hilarious methods of hitting the piñata. It was right up there!

A great jam, in an awesome park with the perfect atmosphere – always a fun time. Massive thanks to Mount Hawke, Dead Sailor and all the sponsors for putting on such a rad event.

Same time next year, yeah?
