TRIP REPORT: Archie, Theo and Jordan in BCN

Words and Photos by Archie Kenward

In September 2015, whilst on a week long trip in Madrid, Theo Dorman and I got talking about spending a few months in Barcelona. At the time it was just an idea, but within a few months I had started working nightshifts full time, purely to fund our summer away.

On 1st August 2016, we flew from Gatwick to Barcelona and in November we flew home. This is a handful of digital and 35mm photos that I took in between the broken bones, dodgy landlords and attempted robberies.

Theo, hanger, Besós.
This was shot just outside the Sagrada Familia, shortly after Chase Quantrill was approached and consequently forced to take photos of an american tourist.
Big 360 at the famous Besòs bumps, Jordan stayed with us for the last month of our trip, he killed it the whole time despite rain, a broken selfie stick and a shoulder injury
We found this rail halfway up a mountain, just outside a holocaust memorial. Luckily Theo Dorman is well trained when it comes to feebing rails so after a few short minutes, we left.
You can watch the whole process of me shooting this photo on Jordan’s YouTube channel, along with a load of other V-logs from our time in Barcelona. #VLOG
Obligatory Paral-lel 35mm photo of Theo, wouldn’t be a Barcelona trip without one.
Jordan Aleppo with his staple hard 360. This was taken on our last day at 9am, immediately after Theo’s Sony A7s was stolen (and rescued) it’s safe to say adrenaline levels were high, even if energy levels were low.
Quick stop on the way home, Mirco kills anything that looks un-rideable.
Mirco is an Italian Federal rider living in Barcelona, he was nice enough to show us round for the majority of our stay. He does a lot of cool shit and eats a lot of weird fruit.
Mirco with Another 9am bike trick at MACBA. (Dat photographer steeze tho)
We weren’t entirely sure what this festival was about, But we do now know that being woken up at 8am, to a screaming firework and several loud explosions, is terrifying and confusing
Ben was another of the many visitors we had, he flew in from Bangkok with half a skateboard and a rucksack full of knock-off north face. He slept on the floor and drank a lot of cider - He fit right in
For a long weekend we had an old friend Jonny Cass staying with us, we went to what is arguably one of the most famous spots on earth and shot this hippy jump.
The run-up for this left roughly 2cm on the side of each peg, and required avoiding human faeces, neither of which seemed to bother Theo.
