The Goodwood festival of speed is a bit like the first time you get taken around Toys R us as a kid. You have no idea where to go first and what to look at, it is literally full of toys – Big boys toys. As soon as you walk in there’s planes, helicopters, supercars, Jet fighters… F1 cars drive past you like it’s an everyday occurrence. You walk shoulder to shoulder with random, unexpected celebrities. There’s Ken Block doing doughnuts one side of you, whilst Rossi is getting wild on a super bike on the other and every trade stand there has a host of beautiful ladies to entice you in. It’s literally, crazy. But really good crazy.
If that’s not enough, the GAS (Goodwood Action Sports) arena, has one of the most unique dirt setups we’ve ever seen, built by none other than the creative Forte brothers Leo and Kye. The rider lineup matches the rad setup, this year saw Kye & Leo, alongside, Tom Justice, Matt Roe, Mike ‘Hucker’ Clark, Corey Bohan, Chris Doyle, Ben Wallace, and even the unlikely character on dirt, Harry Main. It was like a rider list from the Xgames and the riding equaled it. We cover the GAS arena every year, and have always been stoked by it, but this was the first time I’d ever actually been and now I feel that it’s never fully had the recognition it deservers from BMX media, perhaps because its a predominately a demo and not a competition, I don’t know, but let me tell you, this is well worth a visit.
