A couple of weeks ago we got out of the smog of London and made our way down to the fresh air of Devon to check out Kye Forte’s Green Acres Jam and boy were we glad we did.
Words – Dunk.
If there’s one thing summer is good for, it’s getting a load of people together and having a bloody good time on bikes. July 4th was no exception and thanks to Kye Forte another super day of trails and ales was provided with a little help from Redbull. The trails in question are Green Acres – Kye’s very own haven, so it was with great generosity and no shortage of hard work that he and Gemma let 100+ people into their field to ride the trails, which were only finished the day before. A team of trusted builders sweated blood and tears to get the place ready, and with a torrential downpour two days before, wreaking havoc with the stability of the dirt and jeopardising the event it was with a huge sigh of relief from all involved that it went ahead as planned.
There was a loose schedule to the day; the amateur comp had the most structure, being set up in runs, it was pretty epic for all the young am riders, being judged by BMX big guns such as Chris Doyle, Corey Bohan and Hucker. For the rest of the riders, it was all just about having a session and taking nothing too seriously. With the likes of Chris Doyle, Corey Bohan, Anthony Napolitan, and Sergio Layos visiting from overseas it was a great opportunity for the younger generation of rider and BMX fan alike to rub shoulders and just hang out with some of the best international and UK trails riders out there, as well as witness some awesome riding of course.
The weather was awesome, the turnout was amazing, the food was spot on, the whole vibe couldn’t have been more relaxed. It’s what summer is all about!
Shout out to Fox, MBE, Profile Racing, United, Two Seasons and Redbull for supporting the event, and of course to all the guys who put a shovel in the dirt to make it all happen!
