Holding Up And Shutting Down The Streets

DUB Jam 2016 – what an experience! I had never been to a street jam before so didn’t really know what to expect. We started off at a location that was revealed the night before by DUB, meeting on top of a hill overlooking the whole of Liverpool where we had a big group photo.

Just after 12, we headed out to the first spot, which was a rail down a decent set of stairs into a road. I think people were a bit timid to start, with a few hundred people watching and quite a large rail to warm up, on I can see why. We then hit a few more spots, like a jersey barrier and a flat rail. However, the police turned up so we had to move on.

We shut down the streets of Liverpool with the sheer number of riders in the roads. Best of all was when we all rode down the dual carriageway, which we totally held up! The next few spots involved loads of peg combos on flat ledges, one of which being a feeble hard whip – insane. Next was a large 3 ledge drop next to a glass wall, where two people sent wallride 180s. The vibe at this point was incredible, I think that gave people the balls to start sending bigger tricks, so bars and 360s were getting thrown down the drop left, right and centre.

The day wrapped up at a flat rail which we had to break into using a car jack and wrenches. Overall, it was a sick day with sound people and I’ll personally be doing everything I can to get back to more in the future!
