Wish You Were Here – X Games Munich – Morgan Wade and the MEGA RAMP

Yesterday we took the particularly daunting lift up the mega ramp to essentially take a look down the roll in! In the lift was Morgan Wade, he was on his way up there to check the set up as it was raining off and on for an hour. I’d said to everyone, I’d only roll down and jump that thing if A. my life depended on it or B. for £1 million in cash. After taking a look down I can safely say option B is now off the table and option A. is currently a grey area.
In Barcelona Morgan was my favourite during the practice runs. Always busting out the most crazy stuff over that thing followed by a complete disregard to physics and his own safety as he met the Big Air quarter. While we were up on top of the Mega Ramp here in Munich I asked him about the first time he ever dropped in on this thing…

“Of course I was nervous, but as soon as you jump it, then you just don’t want to stop. I had the same conversation last month with Bas Keep in Barcelona, he was up here all sweaty palmed and shit. I was like just hit this thing once and I swear we won’t be able to get you off it. Sure enough he was addicted.”

After checking the weather up there he decided it was getting just too wet to hit it. In a couple of hours the crew get one more practice followed by the final. The weather right now looks like the whole event could well be off as it’s throwing it down here, but we’ll see. We’ll be on hand to keep you updated and give you the full results. In the mix in Munich we have:

Andy Buckworth – AUS
Vince Byron – AUS
Chad Kagy – USA
Steve McCann – AUS
Colton Satterfield – USA
Morgan Wade – USA
Zack Warden – USA

What would it take for you to get involved with this beast? fun? money? double dare? life or death scenario? it is crazy. Respect where it’s due on this one, I’m probably never going to go up on the deck of this thing again…
