So it’s Day 2 of my RebelJam “Wish You Were Here” experience and it’s been a right blast!
On the 2nd day my journey began in South London on a cold rainy morning, I had a solo mission to Bethnall Green where the Vans RebelJam competition was. The even is actually in York Hall which is a historic East-end boxing venue where many great fighters have stood in the ring and punched crap out of each other!
I was stoked on the opportunity to come here and cover the event, I was also really looking forward to catching up with some old mates too! When I walked into the building and saw the ramps for the first time I was truly blown-away by the amazing job the guys at ArtRamp Parks & Ofcourse the mastermind behind the design: Mr Brian Kachinsky had done on this place, I mean you wouldn’t even recognise it as a boxing venue. The course was SICK and packed with rails, flat banks, quarters and of course the sick Shadow coffin box.
I caught up with Benny L, Scott Ditchburn and had a bit crack with Dan Paley since it’s been ages since I had a chat with these guys. We had a bit chat and I shot a few photos with ’em too. Good times!
Riders from all over the world had travelled far and wide to attend this event and it was going to be HUGE by the looks of the practice runs. Garrett was on fire and totally abused the Shadow coffin box with an oppo whip to manny then chucked an oppo bar in just for good measure. It only took a few tries and looked like butter, here’s the Instagram vid our man Ady caught just by chance…
After the practice we were invited along to the House of Vans LDN for the Brighton Ain’t Ready Premier and man, the guys smashed it for this vid. Such a good vibe in that place last night!
