Stevie Churchill and Éclat have teamed up to create the Fireball tyre. What interested us most was the fact these puppies have a nylon puncture proof belt. Bearing in mind Blighty is littered with glass we figured this was a great idea.
Paul Robinson was once again on hand from Éclat to give us more details on the tyre that won’t let you down… No pressure there then.
Tires or Tyres?
Ha, I’m tyred of working out which one is right to be honest. Americans write it tire and we euro dweebs write it tyre. We send our products out worldwide though so I’m contemplating just creating a universal word for tyres/tires and that word is “TRYDERS”. I can guarantee now this won’t catch on.
Definitely not shopped.
The name Fireball is great for an Éclat product. It reminds me of a James Bond film title, and as you know I’ve always thought of Éclat as a baddies cover up operation in Bond films. Would Stevie Churchill make a good baddie and why the name Fireball?
If Stevie Churchill was in a bond film he could easily play the part of oddjob, but it would be oddjob with a 5 panel and a big t shirt that goes down to your knees so when you don’t have any jeans on it looks like a dress, so essentially a modern day BMX version of oddjob. Fireball is a cinnamon whisky and it’s a bit spicy. Its Stevie’s choice drink after a long day in the office.
Tell me more about the puncture proof belt? Is it similar to the days we ran two tyres? I had Primo Walls with a de beaded V Monster insert. Worked great but weighed a ton.
I never ran two tyres, you maybe did for all those fufanus you did. I just stuffed bits of old plastic bottle into mine then chugged out a XXL no footer. The actual secret ingredient inside the Fireball tyre is the new Nylon puncture-proof material we use to give both puncture protection and to add support to the carcass of the actual tire preventing blowouts and any damage occurring during ropey grinds. We use three sections that are positioned in each sidewall and the top of the tire to give you as much support as possible. This makes the Fireball one of the toughest tires on the market and the weapon of choice for any modern day Bond villain.

They go up to 2.4 which is wide. How wide do you think tyres will go in the future?
Flatly my dear I don’t riverdance. 7.9 maybe. 8.10. Dunno.
I’d noticed you had sample colours. They looked similar to an 80’s quilt cover, which is a good thing. Will these be available at any point?
It all depends, we will defiantly have some different versions coming out in the coming months though. That’s all I can tell you for now, I don’t want to blow out the secrets just yet.
When are the Fireballs available in the UK? and do you have a RRP yet?
They will be out in a few weeks; they/re everywhere now except the USA and the UK so hold onto your horses. UK RRP is £27.99 dealers hit up CSG Distribution for more info and availability.
