Having arrived early at Terminal one on day 0 and killing time while we awaited team late and team really late to arrive the boys had a bit of a ride and whatever. Janis unfortunately took a spill on the vertish wall resulting in his bars (which had Barends) piercing his thigh right by the artery. To cut a long story short there was a lot of blood, an ambulance and quite a bit of commotion. The prognosis was that Janis narrowly missed the artery (luckily) and after spending a night in Leicester Royal is back with us albeit unable to ride. It’s no exaggeration that this was a very serious situation which went about as well as it could have considering, which we are all very relived about.
We checked off one or two challenges today while waiting for Janis to be discharged, namely the 500 tweets and one or two flat bar challenges.
Currently we are at Dover awaiting our ferry before driving to Paris. Let’s hope the weather there is a bit better than here!
