Nike 6.0 BCN Day 2

Benson woke up early due to jet lag from his recent trip to Canada. After waking me up too, we headed downstairs for our complimentary breakfast – we were the first people there, followed an elderly person (It was very early!). After our half english breakfast we didn’t have much time to work because we were getting picked up at 10 to go to the NikeiD Primo launch which we had down in our schedule, so I chucked the clips together from yesterdays practice session and headed down with quite literally minutes to spare!

Our – VIP space aged – shuttle bus turned up outside the hotel – on time this time – and myself, Benson and all the other media types headed to the NikeiD Primo launch. We arrived at this old and rustic looking barn and was greeted with food and refreshments! Inside was kitted out with Apple computers and comfy seats which we sat on and watched a big presentation about the the NikeiD Primo shoe.

They showed us how you can change, not just the colour and materials of the shoe but, how fat and skinny you want it, or if you wanted soft or hard rubber, different types of air bubbles and lots of other cool stuff! My self and Benson also got to design our own. Check out what we came up with!

After eating everything at the NikeiD Primo Launch, the “VIP” bus picked us up and took us to the event. There was a long practice session before the qualifying and I almost got sun stroke, but then some the water arrived and everything was all good! The event started started off smoothly and was halted for an hour because Bommel had a really bad accident and braking his leg. Bas Keep also had a really bad fall; sending him to hospital with a broken collar bone and dislocated hip. Get well soon! Apart from the bad news the rest of the event went really well and some amazing riding went down. Look out soon for the video.

Saturday night was the night for the Standby Barcelona premiere of the five videos. Each team; UK, Spain, USA, France and Germany had four riders, two filmers and 1 week in Bacrelona to film an edit. Each team had to vote for their favourite and the winner took home 10,000 euros! Everyone from the event was there eating away at the buffet and taking advantage of the free drinks waiting for the videos to be shown. After the videos were shown, there was a clear idea who was going to win, and the winners were France, who had an outstanding edit. You will get to see all of those edits here on Ride UK next week, so stay tuned for that!

Roll on day three!
