Hebden Bridge Skatepark is a landmark UK spot and many of the riders/skaters use the Park Life Cafe which is right nearby. Come to think of it… Cleggy actually wrote an article on Hebden Bridge few years ago about when the bowl was turned into a murky swimming pool, so you may remember the name!
I found out today that the owners are in a serious spot of trouble after recent floods. It’s really shit news, but at times like these it’s great seeing the BMX community pull together and help eachother out, there’s already been a few donations made. As Clegg said on our earlier FB post, Kim was instrumental in getting the park put in place and she could really do with our help!

On boxing day morning we awoke to the sound of flood sirens blaring. Luckily Kim’s mum was staying with us and we were able to jump in her car and drive over the tops to try and reach our cafe. We parked up and waded through town full of panic and dread. Once we arrived on the park, which was already completely submerged, we did everything we could to protect our business, frantically lifting equipment and making sandbags with coffee sacks and mud. We even tried using towels to block the doorway which we convinced ourselves would work! It was too late and water was coming in from every direction. The park had become unsafe and we had to get out of there. We went to a friends to get warm and dry and spent the next three hours bailing water out of their house! On return we found the cafe had been devastated, water levels far exceeding anything we could have expected. Eleven months ago Charlie and I sank every last penny we had as well as a loan from the bank into extending and refurbishing the cafe and we had a little business we could be very proud of. Anyone who knows the cafe knows our commitment to the park and its people. We don’t want our story to stop here. Please help us get back on our feet.
