Each month we take look at some fresh new product and tell you guys what we think about it. Here’s the parts section from issue 161.
S&M
Perfect 10 bars
S&M’s perfect 10’s have been available for a good year or so now and they’ve proved real popular with the big bars brigade. I’ve legitimately seen a kid stick his head through the middle of them. Here’s the specs: 10” rise, 1.5 degree upsweep, 11 degree back sweep, .75 cross bar, 2.73lbs and are full 4130 chromo. Made in the USA and with that S&M lifetime warranty you can’t go wrong. RRP: £64.99
Stolen
Convict III stem
The Convict 3 stem from Stolen is a good value for money stem. This is forged and not machined, which is a cheaper process hence the savings. Forged tends not to be as strong as machined, but Stolen have all bases covered and offer the affordability on this. Available in White, Black, Blue and Gold. RRP £29.99
Stolen
Cold Forged peg
Stolen have ventured into the peg department, and not before time. The Cold Forged peg is a nice and simple set up designed to save you money. They’re butted chromo with anti roll pins as standard and come in a stack of cool colours. A nice little Stolen logo screened on these round off a great value peg. Rail ready. RRP: £12.99
Cult
Chase Dehart tyres
Anything with Chase’s name right now is going to be popular, because he is sick. These new Chase tyres from Cult are no exception. I’ve got a sneaky feeling Chase was a fan of the OG V Monsters because that’s what these remind me of. Knurled directional tread these things look like they’d be great on the street or park and they look quick. They come in at 2.10 or 2.25 with a max PSI of 110. RRP: £29.99
BSD
Ghetto forks
The all new v2 Ghetto forks from BSD have arrived. These have always been a great choice of fork for many a BMXer. They are great value and built to last. The sweet spot on these versions are the new investment cast dropouts. Dropouts take a lot of abuse and the best way to deal with this is to eliminate the welding and go to cast. Often companies can go overboard with forks when using this process making them look crazy, so it’s great to see BSD keeping things looking normal with these. The legs are fully heat treated and tapered as before, along with a machined one piece steerer tube and integrated bearing race. They weigh in at 1.97lbs. RRP: £124.99
DUO
Resilite pedals
These pedals are great from DUO. Really good value, using their own resilite material. This brings the cost down greatly, as we’ve seen with their seat posts etc. Nice blocky feel to these, which looks like they’ll last a while along with great grip. They come really well packaged too which helps bike stores out immensely, and even come with a spare set of end plugs! Treats. RRP: £14.99
G Sport
Complete front wheel [Birdcage/Marmoset]
There’s always been a call for the G-sport complete wheel ready to pluck off the shelf, and here you have it. Often kids are looking for the complete G-sport set up because they know they’re bomb proof. Here we see the popular Marmoset hub married up to a Birdcage rim. You can’t really get any more bomb proof than that! The great thing about the Birdcage rim has always been the thicker bead, this helps prevent pinch flats and flat spotting the rim. With the Marmoset being peg ready, this is a match made in Sheffield heaven. RRP: £179.95
Sunday
Sabretooth – sprocket 25t
This is a super clean and tidy looking sprocket from our buddies over at Sunday. The Sabretooth is kept real simple here, and it’s not been over done on the design or machining, usually that means a sprocket that’s going to last. Great looking Sunday etched logo’s, with all your sizes covered and is also available in Raw which looks particularly sweet. RRP: £39.99
Odyssey
Aaron Ross Tyre
The awesome Aaron Ross keyboard tyre from Odyssey has been doing the rounds for a while now, and they have been designed to go fast! Aaron has never been shy about his bike/parts colours, and these are no different, as these are now available in White. Aaron recently sported these with a green rim and they looked particularly mental! Awesome tyres nonetheless, and available in 2.10 or 2.35. RRP: £29.99
Stranger
Cell Topload stem
More Stranger goodness for issue 161, this time in the shape of their rad looking Cell Topload Stem. This is Jesse Whaley’s signature stem and it does not disappoint. CNC machined alloy with a 52mm reach. Stranger have kept it simple with a choice of either Polished or Black. The Cell weighs in at 10.2 oz, with great attention to detail, nice machining and an etched logo to round off a classic looking topload. RRP: £64.99
Fiend
Bars
It’s great to see the Fiend products slowly filtering into good old Blighty. Here we have the new Bars. No novelty name here just straight down to business. 8.27” rise, 28.5” wide, 12 back and 1 degree up sweep. Constructed of 13 butted heat treated 4130 chromoly and weigh in at 1.5lbs. They come in good honest ED Black and that’s that. Sick. RRP: £69.99
Salt Plus
Magic Forks
Salt are an offshoot brand of Wethepeople, and no doubt you would have noticed their parts on the WTP complete bike range. Well they now do aftermarket parts too, and if you’re on a budget take a close look at this stuff as it’s great value. We have the Magic Forks, which are full Japanese M2 chromo, with a one piece chromo steerer tube, and u brake mounts optional. They also include investment cast dropouts, tapered legs and built in bearing race, which is a great touch for forks in this price range. RRP: £79.99
