FISE WORLD SERIES 2017 ANNOUNCED

Get stoked for another trip around the world with FISE! This year’s four stops on the FISE World Series 2017 just got announced with the teaser video above.

The first event is just around the corner – next week in Montpellier, France. You know this is going to be a party… FISE is celebrating 20 years of action sports events this year, so they’re lining up for a big one! Check the details below.

For the 21st edition of FISE (International Festival of Action Sports), the FISE World Series (FWS) tour, presented by Honor, is stopping in four towns, four countries, four environments, on three continents – always centred on our passion for action sports. Montpellier (France), Budapest (Hungary), Edmonton (Canada), and Chengdu (China) host the stages of FWS2017, and look forward to winning over an ever more enthusiastic public. This year also happens to be special as we celebrate the twentieth anniversary of FISE! These are indeed twenty years of history, action sports and sharing. FWS will host the best amateur and professional riders in disciplines such as BMX Freestyle Park, BMX Freestyle Flatland, Skateboard, Mountain Bike (MTB), Roller Freestyle, and Wakeboard. And last but not least, Skateboard is to be an official part of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo!

As always, access to the festival is free, as it is in the surrounding areas and for animations such as demonstrations and initiations on offer to the public.

Partnerships with new federations, assisted by existing ones, will enable the organisation of worldwide exclusives, such as the Roller Freestyle FIRS World Cup led by the International Federation of Roller Sports and the BMX Freestyle Park UCI World Cups.

STAGES OF THE TOUR 2017

Montpellier, France, 24-28 May

It all started for FISE in Montpellier, mother of FWS. It was obvious, therefore, for us to make this city the first step of the international tour. From the 24-28 May, around 600 000 spectators are expected on the Lez riverbanks. Only Montpellier will see represented Scooter, and Climbing for the first time thanks to the Climbing Boulder contest. The other key sporting disciplines are BMX Freestyle Flatland, BMX Freestyle Park, BMX Spine Ramp, Roller Freestyle, Skateboard, MTB Slopestyle, and Wakeboard. Looking towards the possible inclusion of the discipline in the 2020 Olympic Games of Tokyo, a delegation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be at FISE Montpellier to evaluate it. This delegation will comprise two members of the IOC and be accompanied by the General Director of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

Budapest, Hungary, 16-19 August

Budapest has become a key travel destination. Indeed, Hungary’s main town is on its way to becoming ‘the place to be’, similar to Prague and Berlin. The Danube’s pearl will host FWS for the first time on this second worldwide tour. Here, the best riders in MTB Slopestyle, Skateboard, BMX Freestyle Flatland, BMX Freestyle Park, and Roller Freestyle will compete to increase their tour ranking.

Edmonton, Canada, 15-17 September

The third crucial stage of FWS takes place in Edmonton in the heart of the province of Alberta. Edmonton is the fifth biggest district of Canada and lies along the North Saskatchewan River. It will host contests of MTB Slopestyle, Skateboard, BMX Freestyle Flatland, and BMX Freestyle Park – bringing together an increasing number of competitive riders.

Chengdu, China, 3-5 November

Chengdu, Sichuan district’s major town, is one of the most dynamic cities of western China. For the fourth year in a row, it will be the ultimate stage of the tour and the host of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup 2017. The sports represented at this stage are the same as is Edmonton and Budapest: MTB Slopestyle, Skateboard, BMX Freestyle Park, BMX Freestyle Flatland, and Roller Freestyle. Who is going to be worthy successor to Logan Martin, winner of the 2016 BMX Freestyle Park?

Let’s meet up again from 24th May in Montpellier for a tour which will see a crowd going wild with excitement!

Semi-finals and finals of the contests will be live on the French SFR Sport 3 channel and worldwide on IMG network and FISE.TV.

2017’s tour is going to be mad!
