4Motion Skatepark, Darlington are opening their doors on Saturday 5th of April.
Since I’m from up in the North-East of England, I thought it was only right to contact the owners and see if we could pop down for a look. After having a bit of crack with the owner we headed down with a little group which consisted of myself, one of the local shredders and a bunch of good lads from around the Chester-le-street area.
The street section was near enough finished and the other sections were really coming along nicely so we got to ride at least one half of the park. I’ve got to say massive PROPS to Nigel (the owner) for letting us have a bit of a sneak-peek and a bit shred of the park. Nigel and the rest of the guys were very welcoming, such a down to earth group of people who genuinely have an interest in building & running a successful, quality skatepark. Definitely no half measures here!
Personally, I think the photos don’t really seem to do the place much justice! Speaking of justice… The guys were saying that Tom Justice had quite a bit to do with this skatepark design-wise, when you look at the massive vert wall and jump box it becomes all too apparent that Tom had an influence on at least one side of the park. (It kinda looks like the setup in Flow Skatepark, Notts) – Which is definitely not a bad thing at all, that place rocks! Check out the gallery below…
