Ride UK BMX Corey Martinez - Ride UK BMX

Corey Martinez

Super-technical Street rider Corey Martinez is sponsored by brands including United Bike Co., Red Bull, Etnies and Cinema Wheel Co. He was born in Texas, but grew up in Decatur, Alabama, where he was inspired to get into BMX after getting a bike for his birthday and watching neighbourhood kids ride ditches a block over from the family house.

He learnt his first tricks with Seth Kimbrough, now also a pro BMXer, and was soon killing it in competitions – one of the first he rode in was the Jinx Contest in Nashville, where he beat rivals including Ryan Nyquist. From there, his progress was rapid, and he took the Street scene by storm, landing sponsors, magazine covers and video appearances in rapid succession.

Competition highlights include second place at the 2005 BMX Masters in Cologne, sixth at the 2009 X Games, and victory at the 2011 VANS Rebeljam in Eindhoven. He was also part of the team that won the 2011 Nike 6.0 Pro at Huntington Beach, and finished second in Streetstyle at the 2012 Dew Tour stop in San Francisco. He was awarded the NORA Cup for Street Rider of the Year in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

In recent years he has continued to amaze in video parts in which he drops creative tricks with effortless style. His seven-minute part in ‘This Is United’ in 2012 won video part of the year at the Nora Cup, and he also appeared in the Red Bull TV Series ‘Ride & Seek’ with Garrett Reynolds and Tony Neyer.
