​After a pretty non-eventful day all we wanted was to go wash in a river, which seems to be becoming a staple of our trips at this point. We loaded up the vans, hit up Google maps and headed towards the nearest body of water we could find. We pulled up into these gates for what we thought was a lake, down a dirt track, and realised we’d actually just driven into a quarry. Spinning around, back down the road, and what do you know somebody has locked the gate. Me and Darby just gave up at this point and lay on the roof of my Transit, Chris went in search of our saviours who happened to be two old ladies who had the keys. The mission was still on to lie in a river, which we finally managed when the sun was setting. Now I don’t know what they do with the water down there, but that shit was painfully cold. Darby decided to show off a little and just fling himself in, Chris went for the sensible option of washing his hair from the bank while looking like he’s drowning in 6 inches of water.

Day 1 done, we headed to Brecon Beacons to find a quiet lay-by to park up for the night. The next morning we gave Tariq a call, he’d been out all night on Turbo Island in Bristol till 5am, so obviously he was game to come and ride. If you don’t know what Turbo Island is, think yourself lucky. We met him down in Cardiff with a bunch of the local boys down there. I still refuse to believe Tariq isn’t just a figment of our imagination, because that man fired out some NBDs on staple Cardiff spots after lying fast awake in his van for a total of 2 hours. Spent the evening with a chilled skatepark session then it was on to Barry for the night to park up by the beach.

Day 3 rolls around, someone had the bright idea to head over to Swansea. Now if you’ve never gone to Swansea to ride street, don’t. We had more fun having a shower out of a bottle in the car park in the morning. Maybe there’s some hidden gems down there, but we found none of them. Saying that, Chris managed to send some absolute bangers, but that man could film a DVD section on a curb cut. Earlier in the day we’d ridden past this stupid drop in ledge that Chris looked at, but we realised it was a bit much. After a trip to Spoons and a whiskey, he decided it wasn’t so stupid anymore. Hucked a big old hop in, nearly rode off the side of the ledge, but managed to level it out and make it off without dying. That one was wild.

Then it was on to Weston-super-Mare for the night. Fun fact, Weston-super-Mare scored second to be the worst seaside town in the UK. We just sat on the street drinking Rosé so it felt pretty homely to us. The idea was to find a beach park up that night, which fell through, so we ended up sleeping on the street in the vans. I say vans, Chris and Darby were in a people carrier. All of Weston-super-Mare could walk past to see some dirty, grown ass men sleeping in a car.

Last day of the trip, obviously we were going to end up in Bristol. Not much got done, just the usual Dean lane, street mission, then back to Dean lane. After a few hours on Deano sampling the Bristol wildlife, we loaded up the vans for the long drive back to Manny. All in all, a pretty ‘relaxing’ trip.
