The guys behind Belfast BMX have just opened up their new skatepark and even though it’s not the biggest, it has everything you need. There’s a well-designed plaza with rails, grind boxes and banks…
…plus there’s a fun jump box line, foam pit and a good sized spine mini (which is hard to come by these days).
“The park has been designed to cater for practically everyone with every inch of floor space being well utilised.”
The park has been designed to cater for practically everyone with every inch of floor space being well utilised. There’s a cafe upstairs for the coffee lovers and of course, a well-stocked BMX shop.
I flew home for the opening weekend. And in a brief moment between the chaos, I managed to shoot a few photos with Joe Parry, who was visiting from the mainland, and Connor Davis, who works in the park. (Joe was cool enough to shoot a couple of me too)
This park is exactly what Belfast needs. The guys behind it are doing it for all the right reasons, I’m certain it’ll become the backbone of the scene and hopefully help cement Belfast on the BMX map.
