– What’s your current setup – What gear could we find in your bag on a usual day?

“My camera is a Canon 80D. I mostly use it with my Sigma 50mm f1.4 or my Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 which both are super sharp. I also have a 8mm Walimex Fisheye, Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and a Canon  50-250mm f4-5.6.

My flash setup consists of 2 Jinbei HD 600V and 4 Yongnuo YN-560 III flashes. I also have a few softboxes and umbrellas.”

– When it comes to photos, what grabs your interest? Is there a certain aesthetic you go for or do you prefer to figure it out as it happens?

“I try to find the best position to make a trick look good and interesting. The first years of photography I shot most of my photos with my Fisheye but now I prefer my Sigma 50mm or the Tokina because of the sharpness and aperture.

When you always shoot photos with a fisheye it gets really boring because everything looks the same and I think I am now trying to not only show the trick but also the atmosphere. Because I just recently got my big Jinbei flashes I now want to make my lighting more interesting and not only light up the photo because it’s too dark indoors.”

– Do you have a favourite kind of spot to shoot photos at, favourite tricks or favourite riders to photograph?

“My favourite place to shoot photos is Barcelona I think. The spots are not only good for riding but for photography as well. But my favourite photos were still shot at local spots or on good roadtrips.

My favourite trick to shoot is a tabletop air and a dipped 360. Christian Masur is one of the best people to shoot photos with because he can do these and other tricks super safe, super high and super clean. But sometimes it’s pretty hard to get the ramp and Christian on one picture, haha!”

– What drives your photography? What are you trying to capture?

“I think I just try to capture moments and good vibes. When a rider has fun shooting photos he pushes himself to do the tricks even better and I think this effort is visible in the photos.”
