BIKE CHECK: Kaz Campbell

Cambridgeshire’s own Kaz Campbell just built up a fresh Tall Order frame…  And how slick does this look?  Maybe I’ve just got a penchant for raw & polished rigs, because this one is really speaking to me.  With the brown leather seat too.  Class.

We needed a closer look so our man Martin Grainger grabbed some photos at the Seventies warehouse, then old mate Fooman shot some riding shots at Swalecliffe bowl in Kent.

Q&A with Kaz Campbell

– Tell us about the new rig. What are you most stoked on?

Super hyped on this one!  She’s big, speedy and hella pretty.  I would have to say I’m most stoked on the colour, I’ve wanted a raw dawg for a long time now, I also think the shiny head tube badge just makes it!

– Is it all fresh or are there some old bits on here?

I actually got a lot of fresh bits in November, so I’m still rocking the same wheels, stem, bars, drivetrain and seat, as they’re all still running sweet.  Quick shoutout to pro wheel builder Gattmandu, as my wheels are still straighter and tighter than ever!

– How many people did it take to build this bike…?

Hahaha! Well since my bike mechanic skills are not up to scratch,  Ben (Towle) and Tom (Russell) hyped me up saying they would build the whole thing.  As it turns out they just sat on their arses chatting shit whilst others helped me.  If I’m honest, I’d say it was a 4 man jobby, haha.

– Tell us about the new pedals. How do they feel?

They feel damn good, still grippy for plastics, but won’t eat your shin too much when ya slip (I have tested this out).

– Early days, but where have you been on it so far?

The stoke was high as 2/3 of us had new setups (sorry Tom), so we drove straight from Seventies to Sidley Woods to catch a session with Ricky, then missioned it all the way to Swalecliffe beach for a golden hour session with Shieldsy and Fooman.  It definitely was not a bad way to break in the new whip!

New Tall Order pedals, available soon

– Any plans to travel far and wide on it yet?

Really hoping to get to Malaga this autumn, that place is just heaven if you ride BMX, I’m also planning on doing a Scotland trip at some point this year.  Then next year 100% looking to go to at least one of the Vans Pro Cups, and more camping trips with the vlog squad.  Other than that no other plans but hoping to travel as much as I can.

– Shoutouts?

I’d obviously like to give a massive thanks to Baz for always having my back!  I’d also like to thank all the guys at Seventies for hooking me up with the other bits I needed.  In addition I’d like to thank Gav at Mode BMX shop, and Matt at Villa Road for also supporting me.  All these guys help keep me motivated to shred!
