Alex Donnachie (‘Alex D’) is part of the Pro team at Glasgow-based BSD. He currently rides a prototype 20.6″ frame from the brand, with new Dark Red colourway parts, including Forever Lo grips, Passenger seat and Safari plastic pedals, plus a sample Dark Red set of his signature ‘Donnasqueak’ tyres, which come with a simple, low profile tread and mega squeak.
Among his video parts for BSD include a section in the full-length ‘Any Which Way’, plus the four-minute ‘Summer in the City’, filmed over the summer of 2013 in Glasgow, and 2014’s ‘6 Days in Cyprus’, all filmed and edited by Dave Sowerby. He also finished off ‘Livin’ for the City Part 3’, filmed in Glasgow in 2012, with a mix of tech and burly bangers.
In 2014 he was nominated in the Number One Web Video Part category at the Ride BMX NORA Cup awards for an edit filmed in Tel Aviv, Israel for 20Twenty store. Put together by Rich Forne, the part shows off some mindblowing technical combos and an ability to do just about every trick imaginable including some unreal flat ledge tricks.
Alex, a humble Scottish lad from Blairgowrie near Perth, is actually currently enrolled in college in Israel. It’s a setup heaven, so it comes as no surprise to learn that Alex also appeared in BSD’s ‘In the Streets of Israel’, released in 2013, with teammates Mike Taylor, Kriss Kyle and Dan Paley.
