Okay so Day 1 of Ride to Glory 2009 went down swimmingly. All the teams met up relatively on-time at Dean Lane skatepark, Bristol. Wethepeople arrived first because they are the best *cough*.
It was a good time to size up the competition and collect the challenge books and other roadtrip goodies – like crates of Redbull, tape measures, kicker ramps etc. Once all the handshaking was over a little bit of a session went down and then onto some challenge ticking in the form of the height pole challenges.
It was beautifully sunny in Bristol and in general the afternoon was a nice time to catch up with some old faces and say hello to some new ones, such as Walter Peringer, who is the staff photographer for Ride UK covering most of the American content you see each month in Ride. He is a seriously nice chap and you’ve never heard of him before you need to get your head checked out…
Jim C was over repping Odyssey along with Aaron Ross. Apparently the whole of the Odyssey are going to be riding cruisers! Jim’s orders. We’lll wait and see on that one.
Jeff Klugiewicz was here too for the Profile boys, speaking of which Profile have snuck a certain Will Herrman onto their 15 seater minibus! Good times indeed!
A certain Ty Morrow was nowhere to be seen though? Vans might be at a loss but I hear they have a something up their sleeves to bring it back round. Speaking of Vans, Matty Lambert who films a lot of the Ridebmx.com exclusive vids has forgotten to bring his video camera! It’s all good though because his mobile films in HD.
Last but not least, Wethepeople! (last years best edit) have picked up a certain guest star in the form of none other than NORTHERN JOHN!!! NJ has been drafted in to fill in a lot of the more difficult challenges that only Farren Downs could of ticked off the WTP list – but unfortunately Farren had a nasty accident in Cologne last week whilst filming for a Nike video (get well soon Farren!).
So yeh that’s it for today ladies and gentleman, Day 1 of Ride To Glory 2009 over – each team has gone their separate ways and now the true mayhem will begin…
