Ride to Glory: Vans – Days 3 & 4

By Daniel Benson

We woke up in Bristol on Monday and surprise surprise its effin’ raining again. Great. We decided to go back to st George skatepark regardless of the rain and managed to have a decent session. The kids that we taught to bunnyhop were back there and they obviously hadn’t been practicing because they were all still shit.

The hip into the concrete slug section was sessioned hard. Ben did this sweet truck as you can see in this badly framed and timed photo and Matt went so high he hit the piss wet clouds above us, but you have to wait to see that gem in the mag. Levi Rogers jumped in the van for the ride even though he’s injured but were all hoping to find some kind of miracle herb (ahem…) that might fix his broken collarbone somewhere beside the road in the Cotswolds.

So we packed the van (badly, as always) and headed up to somewhere near Worcester to ride jay alianos backgarden and play on some motorbikes. The weather had somehow managed to hold off long enough and it seemed like a fun session. It wasn’t all fun and motorbikes because Matt took a bad slam 450ing a hip and has done something bad to his ankle. Don’t be fooled by the photo though, that’s Ben pushing him in a courtesy chair from the Morrison’s we had just had brekkie in.

Tuesday rained all day. We spent all our time in the van apart from when we picked up Scott Edgeworth up. He gave everyone a bit of motivation and took us to a spot where we smashed one of the ‘not likely’ challenges, claiming that it ‘was written for him’. So, its Tuesday night and Jons with Matt in hospital, Ben’s probably sleeping with a few of the hotel staff and everyone’s hoping the rain stops for when we head south tomorrow.
