Who is the brand? Jet BMX
About the bike:Jet bikes are designed to be decent quality affordable bikes for the beginner, and the Generate gives you everything you’ll need to get started. It’s a simple, entry-level machine, which rides well and looks the part. The three-piece cranks have been improved over the previous model, and the chrome finish looks pretty bling. The front end is high and wide, so if you’re particularly short you might struggle, but to me it felt comfortable and predictable. As with all entry-level bikes you can always make improvements on the parts as you go along, but here you have a good solid base to start from. If this is your first bike you might find that as you improve and hammer the bike a bit more you’ll bend the wheels, as they are single walled not double (this helps to keep the initial cost down). So they are really the only things you’ll need to keep an eye on. Other than that, it’s good to go and will definitely be an ideal starting block!
What’s their history and where are the brand from?Jet is a UK based brand focussed on making entry level bikes for the beginner rider, which has everything you need to get started off on the right foot in BMX. A percentage of all sales per year go to the grassroots of BMX – helping people get skateparks and riding facilities off the ground in their area – Check out jetbmx.com/grassroots for more on that.
What do the manufacturers say about it?We designed the Generate bike to be an affordable BMX to everyone while not sacrificing the way it rides with whack geometry or any goofy parts. Everything is upgradable as you progress, so you can get a decent start in BMX.
What’s the bike intended for and who is it aimed at?The bike is aimed at the beginner who wants a solid bike to give any kind of riding a shot. The bike is built so that it won’t hold your progression back like some of the other cheap bikes on the market.
What is the geometry like and what is the weight of the bike?Featuring a 20.5” top tube for the slightly taller rider and upgrades over our other models like tubular 3-piece Sealed Mid BB cranks and tapered forks, this bike will help you progress quickly. At just 24lbs, this is the lightest bike in the range
Is there anything that could be improved on the bike? The rims are single wall, which means the top of the spoke nipple may contact the inner tube. Take the tyre off and wrap a load of tape around the inside of the rim to avoid the dreaded hissssss.
