Rider-created and inspired, Skavenger started as in-joke among NYC street riding legends, but soon evolved into first a clothing brand and then into a fully-fledged frame company. It is distributed by 4Down, also home to brands such as Etnies, Terrible One, FBM, Bicycle Union, Animal, Fit, S&M and United.
Skavenger’s range of frames includes the limited edition ‘SKVR Tunnel DUB’, available in black or raw. This is Vinnie Sammon’s signature frame, made in the USA by FBM, and featuring an integrated headtube with external downtube gusset, externally machined Mid BB shell, tapered chainstays with wishbone-style junction for strength, tapered seatstays with removable U-brake mounts, custom Tunnel seatstay brace, extra wide rear end for tyre clearance and 5mm thick heat-treated dropouts.
The second frame from Skavenger is the Edwin Delarosa-signature ‘Bridge’. Delarosa is a New York City-based street legend, and his frame is simple, light and solid, made from 100 per cent 4130 Japanese CrMo, designed to be ridden with an Animal wedge pivotal seat post for extra weight saving. It comes in either black or maroon.
Other products bearing the Skavenger name include the Sammon-signature ‘Swift’ bars, made from multi-butted, post-weld heat-treated 4130 CrMo, with 12° backsweep, 2° upsweep and 8″ rise. Also available is a line of T-shirts, bearing the stars and stripes of the American flag.
