Snafu BMX, launched in 1999, is based in Malaga, New Jersey. It offers a range of parts, including forks, bars and bar ends, brake levers and cables, cranks and pedals, headsets, pegs, sprockets, seats and stems for freestyle BMX and BMX racing, and is known for its quality construction, attention to detail and its distinctive colours.
Snafu’s line-up of riders features Scotty Cranmer, Logan Martin, Ryan Guettler and young Liverpudlian Harry Main, who has a number of signature ‘Magical’ products including forks, grip and frontload stem. The super-light ‘Magical’ forks are constructed from heat-treated chromoly for maximum strength and feature a one-piece machined and reinforced steerer tube with integrated bearing race, alloy compression cap, tapered fork legs that are notched for peg clearance and 5mm thick solid dropouts to prevent bending.
Other Snafu riders include Greg Illingworth – his signature two-piece bars are constructed from 4130 heat-treated chromoly with a 20mm crossbar that tapers to 15mm in the centre to help save weight in all the right areas without sacrificing strength. There is also an ‘Illingworth’ super-soft signature grip, in either black, blue, purple or red.
A new addition to the Snafu offering is the Jet Fuel range of parts with a distinctive, and rather wonderful, chrome finish. Jet Fuel includes the super-low profile ‘Anorexic’ pedals constructed from extruded and CNC-machined 6061 T-6 alloy, with a forged, heat-treated 4130 chromoly MTB spindle, and internal bushing with sealed roller bearings.
