The brainchild of pro BMXer Ryan Sher, the Subrosa lifestyle brand came out strong in 2006 with a solid line of complete bikes that got the attention of everyone in the sport. Based in Longwood, Florida, it has now evolved beyond completes, and offers cutting edge frames, forks, bars, parts such as stems, cranks, bottom brackets, sprockets, rims, hubs, headsets and seat posts, and a wide range of soft goods.
Subrosa’s pro team consists of Hoang Tran, Kyle Hart, Mark Mulville, Scott Ditchburn, Lahsaan Kobza, Nick Bullen, Simone Barraco and Joris Coulomb. There is also a ‘Skeleton’ crew made up of riders such as Tom Smith, Rich Forne, Raphael Jeroma-Williams, Greg D’Amico, Slaytanic Tom and Chase Lee, and a flow team including Lars Tepaske, Francisco Jimenez and Emerson Morgan.
All of Subrosa’s bikes are made by riders for riders, from the beginner’s bike to the absolute high-end machine, with frame geometries determined by team riders, and colours and graphics made by Sher himself. The two signature completes are the ‘Novus’ and ‘Salvador’ models, endorsed by Tran and Barraco.
There is also a complete called the ‘Shadow X Subrosa Turn It To 11’, made in collaboration with the Shadow Conspiracy. This fantasy bike features a custom Subrosa Barraco signature ‘Noster’ frame, with T5 Deathproof heat-treated head tube, bottom bracket and dropouts, and low profile removable brake mounts, plus a long list of top-of-the-line Shadow parts.
