Skate Park Fight with BMX Rider VS Angry Russian

I was browsing YouTube for some new BMX videos to watch and happened to come across this video. I’ll not lie… The title did have me hooked at first! It’s not a recent video but you guys might not of caught this when it was uploaded. It’s not a fight video as the title may suggest but it is a rather heated argument between a group of kids and a pissed-off Russian lady which highlights the very controversial subject that a lot of us BMX riders tend to face when we go and ride outdoor parks (mainly) which is very young kids playing at skateparks.

Personally I’ve had a few run-ins with kids on scooters in the past and I’ve always felt crap afterwards. Even though it wasn’t my fault a good 99.9% of the time, I’ve always felt the need to say sorry and make sure the kid is ok before myself or my bike which is the right thing to do. These situations tend to crop up more and more these days and parents are bringing their very young children to outdoor skateparks when the weather is nice. This is just my opinion but I think these lads could of handled this situation better to be honest if they had not made-fun of the Russian lady, maybe it was the language barrier or whatever or the fact they were just taking the piss but possibly just saying sorry to the kid would of diffused this situation completely. They were right in a way though and I didn’t hear them use any swear-words towards the woman.

I also agree with the fact that you do ride parks ‘at your own risk’ but when the bloke gets involved it just seems like he is trying to play the big-man and get these kids shut down by the police or the officer named ‘Jelly Man’ which made me laugh quite a bit. But whatever… The main thing is what our opinions are on this subject as a whole. I mean, is it good or bad? Should kids younger than say… 5 years old be in skateparks unattended? or even with parental supervision? Should there maybe be some sort of ‘awareness course’ to teach young children how to look left and right before dropping in and to be considerate to other skatepark users etc. There’s got to be some sort of solution to this. Let us know your thoughts after watching the video…
