The best trips are often the worst planned... This trip was just that.

I got a phone call at nine in the morning asking if I wanted to go to Scotland for the weekend. Being off work with a broken collar bone, I had nothing better to do so immediately obliged. I then set about ringing people who we thought might also be up for it and soon we had a decent crew.

We had no idea where we were going to be sleeping but set out on the 300 mile trip to Unit 23 as this was going to be the first stop. The session at Unit absolutely went off and set the bar for what was going to be a belter of a trip. After 3 days at Unit (yeah) we headed to Kaos, (the indoor concrete park that closed down) but no dice. Spirits were soon lifted though as a boiling hot session at Zone 74 got underway.

During our time at Zone we bumped into an 11 year old ripper called Fin who was dropping some absolute hammers! He was doing candy bars and heel clickers that any 90s BMXer would have been proud of, I think there are big things to come from that kid.

We did the usual, rode till the park shuts then straight to the local shop before the beer aisle closed. (In Scotland you can't buy alcohol after 10pm.) Loaded up, we headed back to the Travelodge that we booked en route that morning. Hotel party.

"What more can you ask for? Bikes, mates and one of the best indoor parks in the world."

The vibe of the whole trip was spot on, with different riding styles everywhere. Tom and Mark with style for miles, Kieran with mad combos like a newly learnt 540 whip bar and Callum Bibby's impossible manny/fakie lines... What more can you ask for? Bikes, mates and one of the best indoor parks in the world.
