The Shadow Conspiracy has been a distinctive brand from the beginning. A slow, careful, dark series of adverts left people predominantly confused in the early days of the brand. Clips of kidnapping, unsavoury activities and horror film inspired sequences appeared in issues of Props, dark, ominous adverts appeared in magazines... It was all very much a mystery for quite some time.
Shadow quickly established a signature style with regard to their design and artwork. You can immediately spot a Shadow product – they have a great sense of consistency in their products and branding, staying true to their style while still being original. There’s a strong personality. Shadow is Shadow.
“The design is a far cry from your standard ribbed grip."
The Maya grips are Joris Coulomb’s signature. Shadow, with Joris’ help, gave them a design that’s a far cry from your standard ribbed grip.
“We were approached by Joris a couple of years ago with an interesting grip concept that immediately got our brains ticking. Joris uses beeswax candles for who knows what and was really into the shape and feel of the honeycomb pattern.
Being that the candles are very close to the diameter of a grip, Joris really wanted to utilize this ‘natural’ design as the main concept for his signature grip. After many drawings, samples, and refinements we have at last arrived at the Joris Coulomb Maya grip.
An extremely comfortable and long lasting grip that takes its ingenious design straight from the natural world. Combined with our proven DCR Formula material, we have believe we have created an instant classic that you will come back for again and again." –The Shadow Conspiracy
These grips feel great. They’re made from Shadow’s proprietary DCR rubber, which is a nice and soft 35 durometer compound. (That means they’re super comfy.)
We think the design is very pleasing to look at, plus it sits nicely in your hand – not too thick, not too thin. These things are good to go, plus, they come in loads of good colours. Joris has already put them through their paces, maybe you should too.
