The Odyssey Twisted PC pedals were first introduced in 1997. They’re an undisputed classic BMX product, successful for twenty years. The originals are still available, but the guys at Odyssey, ever keen to make worthwhile design refinements, recently released the Twisted Pro pedals.
Odyssey have got it dialled. Their product design has to be among the best in BMX, they’ve pioneered several technologies and seem to hold more patents in their inventions than many other brands. It’s been said that Odyssey (and their family of GSPORT and Sunday) are at the forefront of BMX product design, and we wouldn’t really argue with that.
“While keeping true to the popular style of the original Twisted PC pedals, the Odyssey Twisted Pro Pedals feature a significantly larger body."
While keeping true to the popular style of the original Twisted PC pedals, the Twisted Pro features a significantly larger body, with 6mm gain across and 9mm gain lengthways. That may not seem like much, but side by side (and under your foot) there’s a noticeable difference. BMX is always evolving and perhaps larger bodied pedals are more in demand these days. Or, maybe we’re evolving to have larger feet. 20 years of evolution, there you go.
The Twisted Pro also has a slimmer height than the original and has a more concave shape. Grip wise, despite having four fewer pins than its older brother, the Twisted Pro feels good and grippy. That’s the thing with refining a design – it can end up a simpler, more efficient product.
Manufactured from a strong nylon composite, with a chromoly spindle and loose ball (unsealed) bearings, this is just a classic plastic pedal. Simple, lightweight, inexpensive and colourful… Although the Twisted Pro isn’t yet offered in as many colours as we’ve seen on the Twisted PC, you know they’ll be along soon. Odyssey knows that the limitless supply of colours on the original pedal has always been one of its selling points.
