Let’s face it, not all riders wear gloves. It tends to be mainly the ramp riders and some of the trails guys who wear them, though you do occasionally see someone gloved up on street. It happens.
For those who do use them, then, FUSE Protection have this solid offering, the Alpha glove. Choice of UK team rider (and contest podium boss) Jack Clark, no less.
“The Alpha gloves are a nice strong glove. They have a tight fit so you don't have any problems with them bunching up in your hand when doing tricks and they don't get too sweaty. I change gloves a lot as I like the feel of a fresh pair but really these gloves could last me up to 2-3 months if I needed them to, that’s with me riding every day." – Jack Clark
There’s more tech in these gloves than you might realise. Material wise, there’s a mix of three different kinds of fabric. Microfibre palm material with ventilation holes provides both strength and breathability, two-way stretch mesh on the back of the hand gives ultimate flexibility and comfort, and the use of lycra in the sections between the fingers bring an elastic tightness to the whole situation.
“The Alpha glove is the choice of UK team rider (and contest podium regular) Jack Clark, no less."
Look even closer and you’ll see some clever little touches in the design, too. The index and middle fingers wrap around the top, improving durability where you need it most. FUSE have also added little silicone grips on those fingers to aid with braking and made the back of the thumb area a kind of sweat wipe cloth.
All importantly, the Alpha gloves come in four different sizes and have an adjustable velcro strap to ensure every rider gets the perfect fit – whether that’s on park, dirt or (dare I say it) street.
