RideUKBMX: A-Z OF 2013

M – Martyn Tambling

Martyn clinched the Lifetime Achievement award at last years RideUKBMX Reader Awards. It was a fitting tribute to a rider who has been in the BMX public eye since he was 15. He’s riding with as much energy today as he was back in the 1990’s and there’s no sign of him stopping.

N – Nozzas (in-particular Mike Curley’s)

The nose manual was a staple for every mid naughties BMXer. 2013 though was a big year for them, or should I say long? Riders are now dropping the nozza longer than I can regular manual, and it’s fantastic. Mike Curley is a standout nozzmaster, it’s scary to think what he’ll do in 2014.

O – On the dole

2013 seemed the place to be if you wanted to axe your BMX team as you go into 2014. The cull was big and it was primarily in the USA. I guess ‘on the dole’ doesn’t quite work for the American guys, but it’s what we do when we lose our jobs here in Blighty. It sucks to be honest, and putting this post together of the changes riders faced was pretty depressing.
