Angus Gough: The Nomadic Edit

Edit By Luke Rance Media

I’ve known Angus Gough for a long time now. I’ve seen him grow from a boy to a man and seen his riding change, evolve and develop into what you see in this edit. For a young guy, he’s got a wise head on his shoulders. He’s not influenced by trends or peers.  He rides the way he wants, on what he wants, with who he wants, on a bike that’s set up how he wants. He’s comfortable riding at big comps in front of big crowds but equally shredding local street spots with the lads. The way he approaches his riding reminds me of how it used to be in BMX, he’ll have fun on his bike no matter where he is or what he’s riding, simply riding BMX, because it’s fun, more people should try and take this approach.
With this edit dropping, I wanted to find out the nuts and bolts of how it all happened and what went down, there’s always way more than meets the eye with these things, so Angus has shed some light on the key moments. I think it gives a good insight into Angus himself.

5 things you wouldn’t know about this edit:

1. Through various trips and random filming days this actually took 9 months worth of on and off filming to get all the clips, but easily could have been done in 2 or 3 if it had been our main focus!

2. There was probably 3 times the amount of time spent on the road than actually riding to get this done. Not a complaint though, the right people on a road trip makes the best times!

3. Luke had saved almost every snapchat story from our trips without telling anyone and that is how we got the start of the video! the memories from snapchat are amazing! I wish i had saved some too.

4. The idea of using the google earth clips came up because we needed the video to have more of a theme, rather than just a straight riding video part. I’m exited to start working on something new as soon as possible!

5. Without the help of Custom Riders, Haro, Profile and all the homies, this just wouldn’t have been possible. Massive thanks to them all!

AND A SPOT BY SPOT ANALYSIS:

Blackpool Spot – Amazing spot, unfortunately the clip used in the edit from here wasn’t what I was going for. But the security did their job and I was out before I had the chance to get it. Shoutout to Luke Padgett for showing us around Blackpool!

The Derby Rail

The Derby Rail – For sure the longest rail I’ve ever done. We didn’t actually plan to ride this, but after scoping out the school, just around the corner, I couldn’t say no to giving it a try. After a few battering crashes, I got it and it felt amazing! Another huge thanks to Nick Armstrong for putting us up at his place and showing us around.

Derby-1
Derby-2

Derby 1 – First spot of the day was this wallride, but I decided to just drop off the top of it. I didn’t end up liking the look of it, so it’s an unused clip that I will probably just use for instagram haha!

Hitchin

Hitchin – The most perfectly smooth kinked rail, in the centre of Hitchin town, it’s awesome! I couldn’t get pegs to ice on it, so I thought I would just try an over pegs to ice and somehow got it first try haha, we went back to re-film this recently and I got written off, so I stuck with the original clip haha! (shouldn’t have been so fussy)

Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes-2

Milton Keynes – Getting the speed for the up ledge to T-Bog was pretty scary. Maxed out cranking for about 50 meters and then up onto a ledge, past a rail inches from my pegs and over the sideways handrail! In my test run I clipped the rail with my peg and got so lucky, any further left and I would have been head first into the metal.

Ollerton

Summer sessions with the Aussie homies are the best! The 3 table shows that – Luru (Luke Rance), as well as killing the Videography side of things, can also take an awesome photo!

Scotland

Scotland – One of the best weeks this year was the Scotland trip with Luke, Brock and Boyd. I hadn’t visited Unit 23 before and it didn’t disappoint! I can’t wait to head back up there. Massive thanks to Jason Phelan for showing us about and taking us to this sick waterfall! It was pretty cold but it was a rad experience!

St-Neots

St Neots – The local spot that I wanted to hit once and then be done with it, but I ended up doing it 3 times haha! Once I clipped it on a VX but never got the footage the second time it was a photo for an interview in the Ride UK Mag and this time the 3rd.
