Superstar Le Treets Frame
Superstar have been around for a while now, and in case anyone needs a quick refresher course, here’s the deal: it’s a French company, it’s run by ex-riders who are now engineers, they have a good Euro team, and the stuff they make always has that certain extra flair. New for 2006 include a range of revamped frames, including this, the Le Treets model. This is their street frame (they also have lighter, simpler trails models) – it is made from 100 per cent 4130 cromoly, and has more subtle details than you can shake a stick at: the headtube is for internal headsets, the BB is Spanish sized, there’s a stubby seatstay wishbone to add strength there, the seattube is drilled so you can run your brake cable through it (if you have a cut-down seatpost), the chainstays are uniquely D-shaped to give more room for 2 inch tyres with a slammed and very short back end of just 13.25 inches. Got pop? There’s a small downtube gusset, and the dropouts are small and drilled to shave a couple of ounces. It’s tight, light, and can take a good beating and come back for more.
