Failure Grade 1 Frame
Debuted at Interbike 2005 (check the interview with company owner Matt Bischoff on page 59 of issue 90 December 2005) Failure Bikes is a new company, with a growing range of new products: frames in three sizes, forks, and of course tees, sweats, and hats. The frame is simply built, and impressive from the get-go. The Grade 1 frame is has no rear wishbones so it’s nice and simple out back, u-brake lugs are underneath the seatstays, small dropouts, the bottom bracket is of Spanish inclination, there is a small gusset under the downtube, a machined headtube for an internal headset, and there is also a new small gusset on the toptube at the seattube junction. Our model came with gyro tabs, which are an option – also on the choices lists are black, blue and green paint finishes, and of course, toptube lengths: choose from three sizes, 19.875, 20.5, and 21 inch long toptubes. The frames are very well built, well finished, and they are the antithesis of the brand’s name. This is definitely no failure.
