The DSAB Video Premiere Jam, 27th January, at Unit 23

January 23, 2008 @ 4:34 PM by Mark Noble

When you receive an email like this – ‘My name is Colin Weir and I'm in DSAB who, as you may remember, were writing the Scottish news column in the mag a few months back. Anyway, I'm holding a jam / premiere for the long awaited DSAB video at Unit 23 Skatepark, Dumbarton on Sunday 27th January at 8pm. It's a private session so the park will still be open to those who want to ride ride through until 10pm without being bugged by skaters and fruitbooters. It'd be great if you guys could come along and witness BMX as it should be... Fun! and generally take in the festivities and what not. At £2 for entry, a 2 hour private sesh and probably the first BMX video to come out of Scotland since something BSD or David Frame did 15 years ago, I think you'll find it's well worth the trip!’ – well, you kinda want to know a little more about what’s going on. So, I asked Colin a few more questions.

RIDE: What’s the jam about?

COLIN: The main purpose of the jam is to finally show off the DSAB video. I’ve been wanting to make this video for the nine years I’ve been riding and finally have the footage / equipment / knowledge to put it together. It’s only a small jam / private session after park opening hours to get everyone together to hopefully enjoy a new video and then take that enjoyment into a rad session of riding bikes.

When and where is it all taking place?

Unit23 Skatepark, Dumbarton, Scotland. The park closes officially at 8pm, but riders / video enthusiasts can enter the park at 7pm for only £2 and ride through till 10pm. The video will kick off shortly after 8pm and will last roughly 50 minutes. There will also be a short trailer for Ginger Pete’s (Glasgow local) new video shown before the DSAB video kicks off.

Is Framey going to make an appearance?

God I hope so! I’ve done my best to inform him but I’m afraid I can’t confirm anything. On the BMXinScotland Forum, BMX pro Dave Sowerby compared the trailer to previous Framey masterpieces so we’re off to a flying start…

Where can we buy the DSAB video?

A few DVDs should be available at the premiere, but after that the easiest way to get one is by emailing dsab_mail@hotmail.com. They should also hopefully be available at Unit23 Skatepark and 20twentystore, still to confirm that, but I can’t see many complications. The DVD will only cost £3 which I’m sure you’ll agree is a bargain. It’s not about money, it’s about sharing our love for bike riding and making people happy. After sales have died down it’ll probably appear on the net... not for a good while yet though!
