The riding was amazing, but it always will be at these comps. The best riders in the world 2006 have now been replaced by Mark Webb, Daniel Dhers and Ben Wallace. After seeing these guys ride the Braun miniramp setup all year long, the contest turned out to be rather predictable. The street comp, which is rarely the highlight, actually turned out to be very progressive with Ben Wallace pulling a triple whip, Daniel Dhers pulling a 360 barspin to whip and Alessandro Barbero doing a whip to whip back!
Some of the best stuff in street was the stuff not pulled. The biggest gap on the course was attempted and chainringed, Leon Perkins then gunned it in his final run. To the delight of thousands of screaming europeans. Kindly, one company had given out clappers, you know, the sort of thing that you shake and it makes a noise? Well everyone had them, and it sounded like thunder when anyone pulled something. A frontflip whip was twice attempted and once again, more 360 tailwhips were done than any other trick. Shake a leg...

Leo Forte, Lima and Big Brother Kye Forte.
Dirt was lacking in it's favorite rider and Ride blogger Chris Doyle. Instead Biz flew over hans solo and won the dirt comp with no problems at all. It's easy to forget how good Biz actually is, especially when you haven't seen him in the media so much. Britain once again had it in the dirt comp, ariel yoga from Leo Forte and a 720 from Lima that was probably the best looking ever done. If this was the worlds then Kye Forte would have lost out on the title, but it wasn't so he is now World Champion for the 3rd year in a row. Congrats Kye. Simon Hall from England rode the dirt comp with more of a skatepark style. He hucked this huge 1980's looking backflip over the last set!

Simon Hall... Backy.
The Braun miniramp competition was the highlight of the weekend and possibly the contest year. Who would have thought a miniramp would be more progressive than street riding but it has happened. There's only so many barspin 180s a person can do. That sounds personal but it isn't. Plainly Daniel Dhers is pushing ramp riding. His Indian air to whips have to be seen to understood and his general style is perfect to watch on such a ramp. Back to back everything, thats how a contest should be. Huge flairs, invert flairs, ali-oup flairs, double whip 360s over the spine as an ender put him in second position.

Daniel Dhers - crowd favorite worldwide. Bruv.
Mark Webb is next on the hit list. Often compared to Scotty Cranmer he is said by many to be much better, even Daniel Dhers thinks Mark is the best rider in the world. Well I might be inclined to agree if he hadn't snapped his arm during a routine 900. He fell to the ground with a freightening thud and emerged with two 90degree breaks in his arm instead of one. I love exaggerating.

Webby before he lost the ability to high five.
Just to prove that you don't need big tricks was Tony Watkinson and Steven Lantschner. Stevens huge airs were such a highlight but so was his super smooth whip airs as shown below. Tony Watkinson also snapped something but it wasn't a bone, it was his tabletops. That was cheesy eh?

Steven with a whip air. Bosh.

Anthony Watkinson has covered alot of miles this summer... Invert, Table or something new?
