The BMX in Scotland Awards - Grant Smith

October 30, 2007 @ 12:09 PM by Robin Fenlon

This weekend is the BSD jam and the BMX in Scotland awards. Grant Smith from BSD is a heavy part in both events so we asked him a few questions about it...

The BMX in Scotland Awards is probably something a lot of English riders don't know about, what is it all about?
Ever since Unit 23 opened we've been having jams there usually with an afterparty at Nice N Sleazy (which is probably the only bar that would put up with this level of craziness!!). It used to be a video night with drinks then progressed into the BMX in Scotland awards party, the Scottish scene is pretty tight and we all like to meet up and have a good time so this seemed like a fun thing to do.
Also it’s good to give recognition to the riders that deserve it.

Are just the Scottish welcome?
Not at all, everyone is welcome.

What are the categories for the awards?
Things like Street rider of the year, best newcomer, worst slam, etc

Do they always run smoothly?
No, it’s a very loosely planned event and this is evident on the night but it all adds to the experience...

Always a big crowd...
