Stolen Bikes 2008

Stolen Bikes have just unleashed their new line of complete bikes for 2008, and here's the scoop. More bikes, more colours, better parts all round, and some of the bikes are loaded with parts such as Aitken tyres, Shadow Conspiracy parts, and of course Stolen's own line of cranks, bars, and more.

I remember the launch of this bike brand, and actually, I believe we came up with the name for it here in the Ride office when our mate Anthony Revell told us that he was launching a new company in addition to his race brand, Revell Bikes (which has since gone on to become a solely MTB company - which is doing very nicely thank you). I also remember helping spec out Revs' first bikes, and advising on detail such as dropout design ("make 'em smaller!"). They have a parts brand too - 414 - a name we came up with on an evening stroll down the main road in Las Vegas during an Interbike trip in 2004. Or was it 2002. I can't remember now, but we did stay in the Tropicana - a hotel of BMX legend since our Tim March raced there, on a track built in the tennis courts, at the Jag World Championships back in 1983. Anyway, I reckoned a number-based brand would be cool, so we asked a bike cop what their radio code number for a "stolen item" was, and he told us '414'. So the 414 brand was born too. Good times.
