SE’s upcoming UK BMX party

Few BMX companies have been going as long as SE Racing has – in fact, were they the first? They can certainly lay serious claim to that title, thanks to Scott Breithaupt (the S in SE) starting the whole thing, and many, many people have credited Scott with inventing BMX in the first place. For more about this, pick up a copy of Joe Kid On A Stringray – it’s a genius piece of film documentary covering the history of BMX. So, when it comes to BMX heritage, SE Racing have it in spades: SE’s UK distributor, Shiner, also have a long and established history within BMX, and they are about to celebrate all this with an event coming up soon on December 8th at Creation Skatepark. We decided to ask event organiser Jai Kemp at Shiners for a little more info before packing up our Looptails and camouflage padsets in a Battlebus and heading off to Birmingham.



What is happening at this SE event then?

The event is joint event between us, SE, and the Radbmx.co.uk old school website, so there will be an SE stand of all the 2008 bikes and parts. We have also put up two complete bikes as prizes, and there will also a show and shine competition of SE bikes.

Have you hired the whole skatepark?

Yep, for 6pm. Tickets for this event can be purchased from Radbmx.co.uk.

What bikes will we be able to check out - what new SE bikes will be there?

Well, a PK Ripper Team, PK Ripper Standard Model, OM Flyer 26" retro cruiser, Floval Flyer 24" cruiser, PK Ripper retro looptail, Quadangle retro looptail, Lil Ripper 16" pit bike, DJ Flyer 4x.

What about old-school bikes, what will be there?

The event is mainly an SE Bikes, show so expect to see some really old and rare SE bikes. From the 80s, a PK Ripper looptail complete, OM Flyer looptail complete hopefully, Looptail Quadangle frame and forks and whatever else Charlie and Chris will let me take.

What else can we look forward to from SE in 2008?

SE are releasing a 24" Quadangle frame and forks in spring and also DC Shoes will be releasing the SE / DC 24" Quadangle complete bike around the same time.
