Props Euro Megatour - Day 0/1

Day 0 we set off from the 4 Down Distribution office. We ended up leaving a little later than expected due to one rider forgetting his passport... It wasn't a complete loss though as the crew decided to pass the time at Hastings' outdoor skatepark. In the van was Dean Hearne, trip dad. Steve Bancroft snapping for here and the magazine. James Cox, Props filmer who isn't allowed to touch his bike the whole trip. Riding wise there is myself (Robin Fenlon), Nathan Williams, Ricky Feather and Kye Forte. We had a good session at the park, nothing that would change the world but a few flyouts and some old faithfuls kept everyone warm.

The passport situation was remedied by said riders partner delivering it to the Bicycle Union team in London. This meant we had to wait for them. Upon first talking with them it was decided on the 10pm ferry from Dover to Calais. As 2am came round we boarded the ferry. I would have been angry, but then it was me who left the passport... We ended up sleeping in a Formule 1 hotel in Calais which is a fully automated hotel, you pay by credit card in a machine by the front door and it give you pin codes to the rooms, the toilets clean themselves and there are no staff present, hence the £40 for 2 rooms and 6 beds.. As I was covering my face with the duvet at 5am, Nathan and Ricky decided that they hadn't watched the new Mosh edit yet, so that droned on for about 5 minutes, it felt like 5 hours...

A new day, a new Dawn. Everyone back in the rig to Paris, where we were to meet the rest of the Megatour riders. Why we didn't meet somewhere obvious like the Eiffel tower nobody knew, the weird directions on the phone from Ben Bello nearly had us turning the wrong direction, but we found it in the end... And half the riders from Europe. You had your Hennon's, Cambon's, Kachinsky's, Catfish and a million more.. We did our introductions for Walter Peringer and Stew Johnson then we were off! Vans/Twenty are heading to Slovakia, Eastpak to Switzerland and ourselves to Barcelona, Spain... Should be some proper random footage on their. Bicycle Union are probably going the furthest of any of us, they're going back to London for the whole trip...

Today has been a day of driving, conker playing and sleeping. We picked up Steve Debusk and Alex Valentino so we now have a full van. Steve is in the single crows nest in the back, not sure how long he will stick that out! We should be in Barcelona by tomorrow morning. Macba and Las Ramblas here we come...
