Preview: New Macneil Seats

November 30, 2007 @ 5:11 PM by Mark Noble

A couple issues ago in the magazine we ran a pretty cool interview with Darcy Saccucci, the man from Macneil BMX who came up with the Pivotal seat concept. Now, I don't mind admitting that I'm a massive fan of Pivotals, as anything that can make BMX simpler, cooler, lighter, tougher, and downright neat is A-OK in my book. And now, here's a sneak preview of a bunch of new model seats coming out from Macneil. Flatlanders can rejoice too, because Macneil have just brought out a Pivotal post which is about a mile long. This stuff is dialled. How dialled? Well, the BMX industry as a whole seems to think so - we didn't have enough room in issue 109 of the magazine to run all the glowing quotes, so here's a couple extra:

“The first time that I saw a Pivotal seat I was stoked on the design, yet bummed that we didn’t think of it. I was stoked again when I learned that Jay wasn’t keeping such a revolutionary design all to himself.” – Steve Buddendeck, Duo Brand

“I think it's one of the most important ideas in design to come out in recent years. I only wish I thought of it!! Haha – Clint Millar, Colony

“I feel it’s one of the greatest innovations in a long, long time. There are always people that will want to use a railed seat, but I think the majority will use Pivotals.” – Cory Muth, Verde Bikes
