More 'Shameless' than 'Robin Hood''...

Mike Taylor is a meathead from Warrington, he's been riding for over 10 years now and is one of the UK's best if not slightly under the radar street riders. Mike rides for Sunday, DC Shoes, G-Sport and Firm Bikes. He's had continuing problems with his knee for a while now so I thought I'd ask him how he's getting on and what he's doing to keep busy while he can't ride his bike...

Mike Taylor, who are you?
I'm Mike Taylor aka Jersey 5.11ft, 14.5 stone, blonde hair, blue eyes. A machine sent back in time to grind rails.

Where do you live?
In a town called Warrington or to the locals known as Wazza

Why can’t you ride anymore?
Because back in 2004 I tried a 360 flip in a foam pit and bent my leg the wrong way over the bars which tore my acl and mcl ligament in my left knee. I got surgery and got better started riding again and blew my knee up riding trails at some contest at liverpool so thanks to the NHS making me wait 2 years to get surgery. I got acl repaired with my hamstring (on the 20th June 2007) cos they had already took my patella tendon the first surgery.

When will it be fixed?
The docs fixed it on 20th June I've just got to train my weak leg up to responding properly when its landing and stuff as it totaly forgets after it has been drilled, sliced and diced. Basically your knee wants to shelter in the corner and cry but the physio wants you to toughen it up so they have you doing exercises on it straight away but i didnt understand why she had to insert that dildo in me to help my knee. Its a head scratcher that...

What are you doing to keep busy?
Training, watching bmx vids, watching movies, taking pics, working hanging with my girl, anything to stay sane from not riding my kids bike.

Are your sponsors supporting you with incapacity benefit?
They are still paying my wage which is sweet ,oviously ill have to put in 150% when i get back on my bike to pay them back but being off your bike makes you want to ride more as riding everyday can make bmx a bit stale.

How many movies have you watched this month, and what are they?
At least 20 cant remember them all heres a few...

Tell a good story that sums you up.
A good story to sum me up, jeez im so forgetful that i went to Casi (club in wazza) and was talking to these girls in there and I always ask a girls name but can never remember it. My brain is so shit with names that I must have asked these girls every weekend what the names were for like 4 weeks and I still dont know there names today! haha. So if you see me and I dont know your name I will probably just say, "alrite mate". But my brain remembers shit that no one else will rember like shit off adverts and certain lines in films.. haha!
