BMX Bandits was undoubtedly one of the all time classic movies in BMX history. I don’t think many of you will argue with that one, it’s a movie I’ll be showing my kids at some point and I think it’s definitely worth a look if you’ve never seen it!

Sure, there was no real plot or storyline to the movie. The budget was very minimal (or pretty-much non existent) Nicole Kidman didn’t do her own stunts way back then either, so they got a stunt double… Who was a bloke! LOL.

BMX Bandits first came out in 1983 and was set in Sydney, Australia. The movie production combined the endless fun of riding bikes and mixed it up with a crime/action adventure twist. Sure storyline was a bit naff, but it was a smash hit which grossed $124,649 at the box office back in ’83 so it’s definitely worth watching again. This movie inspired kids all over the world to ride BMX back then and kinda brought life back into a pretty dead scene, so go ahead and watch it with your kids if you have any! They’ll love it.

The intro for BMX Bandits was absolute gold, music takes me way back as soon as it starts! You can learn more about the movie by clicking here. If you’re fancying something a little more up to date afterwards then keep scrolling…

The guys at Red Bull recently produced this amazing remake of the cult classic entitled: Bicycle Motocross featuring Corey Bohan, Mike ‘Hucker’ Clark, and BMX racer Leanna Curtis. – It’s not a whole movie remake of course, but this vid has some RAD stunts in there and the video quality is far better than the ’83 version! haha
