Exclusive: Omar and what’s new at Animal Bikes

January 15, 2008 @ 5:55 PM by Mark Noble

Animal Bike Co is keeping on top of what's what - a slew of new products are coming our way in 2008 which are generally lighter, tougher, and better than before. Ralph Sinisi knows how to run a tight ship there, and new guy Omar Elsebai is still trying to take over the world. So, we spoke to Omar to find out what makes Animal tick, what's coming out, and what's on his iPod.

RIDE: Hi Omar - so, you're the new sales guy on the block at Animal Bikes. What are you doing today?

OMAR: Haha, same thing I do every day, try to take over the world.

What are your new roles there then?

Well I have been doing the shipping and accounts here at Animal for the past two years and I thought I would be taking some work off my shoulders coming into sales, but I was wrong. I’ve got some big shoes to fill. My day consists of trying to decipher crazy e mails, making phone calls and being rejected multiple times haha and messin with ralph.

How is it working with Ralph?

Every single day is an adventure with him. It’s funny cause I’m kinda in a fish tank over here and the only window I have is the one looking into Ralph’s office. All he keeps doing to me is showing me pictures of cars I want that I will never have as inspiration to make more sales... hahaha!

The new tyres look good - what's your take on them?

What makes them good? The new GLH-R is awesome... of course that’s what I’m gonna say, I’m selling them hahaha. But seriously, they are. The tyres are really light and we have beefed up the sidewalls to make sure we don't have any problems. They have been one of the best tyres on the market for a while, I think it’s because they last long have a good tread and ‘cause Edwin Delarosa rides them, haha!

What else can we look forward to from Animal? What's comin' out?

There is a lot of awesome stuff in the works. Within the next few months you will see white grips, plastic bar ends in all colours, new jacket, and 2.25” GLH and GLH-R. Sometime in the summer you should be seeing our rims, hubs, revised Jumpoff, plastic pedals, wide bars, wedge post, and complete wheelsets. Makin’ moves in 08! Haha!
