Bowling For Stephen Murray Jam

December 18, 2007 @ 4:46 PM by Mark Noble

The guys at Dead End Bikes are running a bowl jam at Verwood over the Christmas Break, December 29th - and it'll be another fund-raiser for Stephen Murray. The bowl's not exactly Livingstone Skatepark, but it's definitely a fun park and the guys at Dead End know how to have a good time: bowl jam, sessions, after-party in town... you know the score. We asked jam organiser Phil Aller for a little more information:

RIDE: When is this jam then?

PHIL: The Jam is on Saturday 29th December 2007, the first Saturday after Christmas, starts midday!

And where is this place?

Verwood Bowl is located about six miles from Bournemouth town centre, if your coming from the M27 its before you get to Bournemouth and if you're coming from the west it’s after Bournemouth. It’s easy to find, but if you don’t know where you’re going then tap 'Potterne way, Three Legged Cross’ into the AA Autoroute (click here) and you'll find it! If you can’t then meet at Slades Farm at 11am and join the convoy. If it does rain the jam will take place at Rob Ridge's park in Bridport (web link below).

What is the bowl like down there?

The bowl is real fun to ride – it’s a 4ft escalating up to 5ft concrete bowl with a curved sub-box / wallride round the 4ft section, and it has a wicked elbow hip. The coping's not great for grinds but the bowl's rad for carving about and doing pockets. Smooth and fast! We're also going to build a few obstacles around the bowl.

Who's coming?

Luke Marchant, Paul Jefferies, Ashley Charles, the legendary Looker brothers. Mike Aitken and Chase Hawk! Everyone's coming...

Who is sponsoring the jam?

The jam is sponsored by Vans, Profile, KHE, Hot Wheels and Ride BMX Mag. We're also getting help from 4Down distribution, Urban Image Tattoo, Stolen Bikes and BMX Plus bike shop.

What else is going on over the weekend?

Were having an after-party following the jam. Going to film the jam, make a short video, then hopefully premiere it at the after-party. Keep checking www.ridebmxmag.co.uk and myspace.com/deadendbikeco for updates. Try and get there, any questions call Leroy on 07813 850806 or Phil on 07512 261011. Hopefully it will be a rad day and it's all for a good cause.
